Practice Overview
John Adams is an associate in the firm's Litigation and Intellectual Property Groups. He focuses on all aspects of general civil and business litigation, with a particular emphasis on the protection of intellectual property rights, including those involving trademark, copyright, trade secret, data security, and privacy issues.
Background
Mr. Adams graduated with distinction from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He was a law student associate of the Anthony M. Kennedy American Inn of Court and served as Associate Articles Editor for the Pacific McGeorge Global Business & Development Law Journal. Mr. Adams also served as a Teaching Assistant in the McGeorge Appellate and International Advocacy Program, teaching written and oral advocacy skills to second-year law students.
Prior to joining Hoge Fenton, Mr. Adams externed for the Hon. Garland E. Burrell, Jr. in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, worked as a law clerk for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and served as a research assistant for McGeorge Prof. Omar M. Dajani. Mr. Adams also has nine years’ experience as a journalist, working as the Sunday Sports Editor for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and as reporter, editor, and designer for the San Antonio Express-News, ANG Newspapers, and the Daily Democrat (California).

- Defense of a large public open space district in dispute over easements and water rights
- Defense of individual in claims arising out of suit for breach of contract
- Successfully represented business in action to enforce terms of
settlement agreement
- Representation of plaintiff in breach of contract, negligence and breach of warranty claims in suit arising out of damage to residence during expansion and remodeling
Professional Activities and Admissions
Mr. Adams is admitted to practice law in all California courts and the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California. He is an active member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, International Trademark Association (INTA), and The Society of Professional Journalists.
