We are pleased to announce that Raji Nagarkar, a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice, will be presenting at the 6th Annual iTechLaw International Asian Conference on February 4-5 in Bangalore.  The International Technology Law Association will be gathering 250 private lawyers, in-house counsel, and technology entrepreneurs from around the globe to focus on the latest regulatory, commercial and technology law issues being faced by emerging and growth industries in India and Asia.

Program:  In a world where businesses are increasingly inter-dependent and sharing intellectual property rights, licenses to IP can significantly affect a business’s ability to exist or grow.  Unfortunately, in drafting their agreements, businesses often fail to adequately address the impact of insolvency.  Recent harsh economic times are now causing businesses to pay close attention to bankruptcy provisions in their collaborative agreements and their continued IP rights in the context of insolvency.  But in many cases, it may be too late. 

Raji Nagarkar will be discussing:

• the impact of bankruptcy, whether the licensee or the licensor is the debtor

• distressed acquisitions of intellectual property
  

• drafting considerations from the perspective of both the licensee and licensor
  

• added complexities posed by cross-border transactions
