We are pleased to announce that attorney and shareholder Sean A. Cottle is the new Board Chair of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. Sean has been a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors since 2010 and has served in several leadership roles. With 1,500 members representing 250,000 employees, San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest in Northern California. Its mission is to create a strong local economy, provide premier business connections and visibility, represent the interests of business to government, promote the community, and initiate political and community action.

In real estate law practice for more than 20 years, Sean focuses on transactions involving the purchase/sale and leasing of commercial, industrial and retail property and residential developments, both in California and throughout the U.S. He also advises landowners, developers, builders and subcontractors on aspects of entitlement, construction and the like, from project advocacy to post-closing, and serves as outside general counsel to several contractors and suppliers.

Sean’s dedication to and active participation in professional and community organizations serves to benefit his clients. He held several leadership positions on the Board of Directors of the San Jose Downtown Association (2007-2012), and is a member of NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, Building Industry Association Bay Area (Life Spike Member), California Building Industry Association, and the Real Property Section of the State Bar of California. Sean also is actively involved in The Rotary Club of San Jose.

Matt Mahood, President and CEO of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, said, “With Sean Cottle leading the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce board in 2015, we will be moving forward aggressively on our regional economic development initiative. Sean, who has been a chamber director since 2010 and a member of the Executive Committee since 2012, has been instrumental as our Vice Chair of Economic Development in guiding the chamber on this important regional effort. As a so-called ‘dirt lawyer,’ Sean is just the talent and resource the chamber needs at this time. We are very excited about having him as our 2015 Board Chair.”

Sean Cottle commented, “I am honored to take the reins as the new Board Chair and to continue the good work of all who have come before me. I look forward to leading the members of the Board of Directors as we continue fostering the growth of businesses in our region.”
